On Thursday, Aug. 1, the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Eagle’s Landing C-Store Expansion was held on the east side of the Tribal Administration Building. Community leaders from Four Bears Segment, the 4 Bears Casino, and Mandan Hidatsa, and Arikara (MHA) Chairman Mark Fox were present to formally break ground on the tribe’s newest economic development project.
The Eagle’s Landing C-Store expansion will include improved services for the Fort Berthold Reservation, including a car wash. The project will be completed in 18 months.
“Our goal and philosophy for the casino, the water park, and Four Bears Segment at large, is to make 4 Bears Peninsula a destination resort,” said Chairman Fox. “This is how we diversify our economy, how we bring in new dollars. This is how you make a difference in an economy.”
The MHA Nation is also in the process of building a new cultural center near the Earth Lodge Village, a new tribal capital building, and an ancillary office for finance and other essential departments.
“We’re going to see a lot of changes,” said Chairman Fox. “I want to commend the casino, our architects and engineers, and Councilwoman Brugh and the Four Bears Segment Board. I also want to thank the community.”
Since Chairman Fox’s first term, the MHA Nation has seen marked advancement in infrastructure, schools, recreational opportunities, health care coverage, and other services provided to tribal members living on and off the reservation
“We have some great days ahead of us, but we’re going to have tough days, too,” said Chairman Fox. “That’s why it’s important for us to stick together; to remember we are all members of the MHA Nation. We’re all one nation.”
